Goddess Series: Welcome Home I
My Goddess Series was done in clay. The large round domed discs are basically shallow overturned bowl shapes decorated in white slip and underglazes and coated in clear glaze. I fired them in my electric kiln at about cone 05. They hang on the wall. The imagery depicts two goddess-type figures...one of light and one of dark. One of life and one of death. They depict the duality and cycle of human life and nature.

This piece depicts the Life goddess welcoming a new soul into the world. The partner to this one, in which Death welcomes a soul back to the underworld, was destroyed in the firing process...twice.
